About Us
Tiger Lily Studio offers you an opportunity to be creative for a a few hours, a day, or even longer. Situated in a peaceful rural location in the village of Walliswood, it is run by local arist Katharine Gordon. Katharine Gordon Quirky, imaginative and vibrant Katharine Gordon’s highly decorated earthenware ceramics and paintings reflect her theatrical background, love of colour and thoughtful nature. Katharine’s diverse work encompasses processional outdoor parades, school’s projects and a series of commissioned banners. Her work has been shown in Surrey, Devon and Buckinghamshire and as afield as Seattle. Currently she teaches exhibits and works from her tranquil, rural studio. She spent an itinerant childhood growing up in Asia, the Caribbean, Derbyshire and Devon. Passionate about theatre and literature she spent much of her childhood reading in the airing cupboard. Her teenage years were spent cleaning Greek kitchens before finally graduating with a BA Hons in Theatre Studies. Her love of ceramics and its endless possibilities has been a constant since her first pottery course in 1987. Moving to Surrey, her work expanded to include other art disciplines such as lantern parades, carnival work, fabric collage and teaching. Katharine has exhibited at local galleries such as the Red Biddy Gallery, Shalford and at Cranleigh Art Centre, as well as in Aylesbury and as far afield as Seattle!
